Telemedicine

At Jane Animal Hospital, we know that you might be hesitant to bring your pet into our Toronto office. That is why we are proud to offer veterinary telemedicine services to meet your needs and schedule. Keep reading to learn more about why we offer this and how you can use it to ensure the health of your cat or dog.

What is Veterinary Telemedicine?

Just like you would use the process to talk with your own physician, veterinary telemedicine involves using a video service for veterinary advice. This type of appointment is great for getting flea and tick medication refills, asking dietary guidance, and more.

You also can choose the service that best meets your needs. Telephone calls with veterinary technicians, video chats with a veterinarian, and even just a quick text conversation with a member of our team are all an option. Each one carries a different cost, so make sure to select the one that meets your needs and budget most closely.

Courtesy Nutritional Consultation with a Veterinary Technician

To help you get the best advice for your pet's care, we offer a free ten-minute nutritional consultation with a member of our veterinary team. This allows you to ask questions about your cat or dog's diet and get a professional recommendation for changes based on breed, age, health level, and more.

When is Veterinary Telemedicine Not Possible?

There are certain circumstances where veterinary telemedicine is not possible. For example, any situation that requires a vaccination or physical care of your pet cannot be handled via telemedicine for obvious reasons.

However, our team might use telemedicine appointments to help diagnose a possible condition and schedule a future in-person appointment. By having additional information from a video or telephone appointment, we can lessen the amount of time spent at our office and streamline your pet's care.

How the Process Works

There are several steps required to utilize our veterinary telemedicine services. First, you need to create an account and sign up for the program. There is no fee for this portion and your personal information will be kept safe.

Next, you have an opportunity to open the app and select the communication channel (i.e. video, phone, email) that works best for you. Choose a time in the available schedule. During your scheduled appointment time, you will be able to discuss your concerns with a veterinarian or technician.

Finally, you will be given an email copy of your consultation appointment to refer back to when you need it.
